'Curing' this involves injection of a chemical damp-proof course into the mortar between the brick and very often, but not always, re plastering with an appropriate type of plaster. 2. Penetrating Damp - from an external source through the walls to the inside of the house e.g. from a gutter leak, down-pipe, driving rain or through an "underground" cellar wall. Curing this may involve re plastering or 'tanking' if it is below ground. 3. Internal Damp - internal pipe leaks e.g. broken radiator, shower leak. Dependent on circumstances and duration you may only need a plumber, but you might have resultant decay problems resultant from the leak. 4. Condensation - Curing this is normally a matter of altering the occupier's lifestyle but can involve works to the building. There is also the special case of: 5. Flooding - either by river or sea or arising from "3." above. This can cause massive decay problems in 12-36 months time.
